So I was pretty excited about experiencing a new "first" with Shane. Three years into marriage and it seems the only firsts left include huge life changing decisions( and diapers). We went to this fancy ( though a bit expensive) bowling alley and had so much fun! I wasn't as terrible as I thought I would be although the entire first game I could only knock down pins one one of my turns. Most of the time I would miss completely the first turn and then get them all the second, which really made my spares pretty useless, but I came close to 100 on the second game so I was happy. I still was in last place, but I will take last place with a score of 95 than my first score of 60 something. Its amazing how enjoyable it is to knock things down!
We also ate a lot which is always fun, and went to the museums, played Settlers and hung out together. We have defintiely become addicted to Settler of Catan. Its a board game that is a cross between Monopoly and Risk. We played it once or twice with the Sams' in Tucson and really liked it. Then we met the Belgards. It seems that they have a strong.... passion for Settlers ( playing 2-3 times a week) and have passed that obsession... I mean passion onto us:) We ended buying it because we wanted to share it with Shane's family. We had a delightful time which proves how awesome of a game it is- everyone enjoys it!
Cupcakes and Settlers- perfect:) |
Oh! We also went to the St. Arnold's Brewery! We had never been but was told it was really cool. It was! It was nothing like what we expected. I thought we would stand in a line, walk around a brewery and get tiny samples of some beer. But when we arrived we walked into a huge room, filled with large wooden picnic tables, and hundreds of people. People were on the floor, in their own lounge chairs, and sitting at the tables, eating and playing all sorts of games. We each got a glass( not plastic cup, but glass) and were allowed 4 refills of whatever beer we would like. We weren't prepared to hang out for the long haul, so we each only had two of our allowed four, but there were some serious breweryers there who inspired us. Next time we are going in prepared- with friends, chairs, board games, snacks and lots of time to hang out and enjoy. We did get a quick tour and learned some things about beer, which was enjoyable as well.
I am still amazed at how much there is to do in Houston. I love living in a city where there are always new adventures to discover. Shane and I are going to do our best to continue discovering this summer. When we can't go on vacation, we will bring the vacation to us!
